The Smiths was released on Feb the 20th 1984

The Smiths were: Morrissey, Johnny Marr, Andy Rourke and Mike Joyce

Troy Tate was the original producer of the album; after it was recorded the band rejected those recordings and re-recorded the album with producer John Porter.  Those original sessions are referred to as “The Troy Tate Sessions” and can be heard below.

– Annalisa Jablonska sang vocals on “Pretty Girls Make Graves” & “Suffer Little Children”

– The album sleeve for The Smiths was designed by Morrissey, it includes American actor Joe Dallesandro in a cropped still from Andy Warhol’s 1968 film Flesh
