Aaron Howes – Losing Sleep [Review]

Artist: Aaron Howes
Album: ‘Losing Sleep’
Genre: Folk Rock / Indie Folk
Stand out tracks “I’ve Been Busy” and “Tired as You”

Straight out of Guelph, ON, singer/songwriter Aaron Howes along with a group of his friends who just all happen to be experienced musicians delivers the most straight-ahead indie/folk record you’re going to hear this year. With great lines and measures, the stories he weaves feel real and true to the touch, the music, 10 tracks of somewhat reflective verse with the upbeat pace that leaves you wanting more. Aaron’s vocals are rich, ragged, and emotional in even measures, the production by Don Bray gives ‘Losing Sleep’ an opportune feel that makes’s it a timeless release.

I’ve gotta give a shout out to singer Cassie Dasilva for her flawless vocals, she set the tone for every track she appeared on.

Aaron along with some of the folks that played on the album (Scott Cooper, Dave Christie, Cassie Dasilva and Aaron Mangoff) will be playing a set during the third annual Roots North Music Festival in Orillia, ON. You can catch them at Alleycats Music & Art at 3:30 on Saturday, April 22nd! The show is free and I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to pick up a hard copy (CD) of ‘Losing Sleep’.
