New music from Musical Visionary Josh Richardson “Murmings”

murmings1

Murmings is named after the phenomena of birds flying in seemingly random, yet co-ordinated patterns. Something you might recognize from the composition’s video, which is comprised of a found clip of foul performing this captivating act, repeated several times over for the course of approx. 30 minutes.

This piece, like A Warm Blanket, and Cosmogonies, is performed on solo guitar, with time delay and looping akin to ‘deep listening’ pioneer Pauline Oliveros’ Extended Instrument System (http://deeplistening.org/site/content/expandedmusicalinstruments). The track is entirely live and manipulated by the artist in real time. All three pieces may, as well, be presented as ‘home installations’ and / or gallery pieces, and will be collected in shorter versions, along with others in a ‘Collected Works for Solo Guitar.’
