Celebrated Canadian singer/songwriter Devin Cuddy, and veteran music industry journalist Larry LeBlanc, will together lead the 13th Mariposa Young Singer/Songwriter Workshop.

The workshop will take place Tuesday, Oct. 11th, 2016, 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Best Western Plus Mariposa Inn & Conference Centre, 400 Memorial Avenue, Orillia ON L3V 6H1, 705-325-9511.

I’m delighted that Devin has agreed to perform and talk at our event,” says LeBlanc. “While his presence will be further recognition of the significance of the Mariposa Young Singer/Songwriter Workshop series, it will be also be an acknowledgement of the rich lineage within Canada’s music community. Devin grew up with deep music roots being that his father is Jim Cuddy, co-founder of Blue Rodeo.

The Young Singer/Songwriters Workshops demonstrate the ongoing commitment of Mariposa Folk Foundation to Ontario singer/songwriters.  The Workshops are presented with the generous financial support of the Community Foundation of Orillia and Area.

To date, such leading Canadian singer/songwriters as Jim Cuddy, Murray McLauchlan, Sylvia Tyson, Jesse F. Keeler, Bruce Good, Amelia Curran, Shirley Eikhard, Liam Titcomb, Jadea Kelly, Ariana Gillis, Jory Nash, and Dala have guested.

The workshop series, aimed at reaching singer/songwriters aged 12-25 throughout Ontario, provides participants with an opportunity to meet and interact with professional singer/songwriters and music industry figures, as well as build relationships with other young singer/songwriters.

The event is free, but it is restricted to participants and guardians. There is no public audience. Participants may perform their own songs. Lyric sheets are welcome.
