(June 23, 2016 – Toronto, ON) – Acclaimed indie four-piece Tokyo Police Club have unveiled a new music video for their lead single “Not My Girl”. Produced by MuchFACT and directed by Tokyo’s own Graham Wright, the video for “Not My Girl” explores the crumbling relationship of two aliens. “The original idea was basically, ‘What if two of the aliens from the Mos Eisley Cantina broke up and were sad about it?'” comments Wright. “I had this vision in my head of a ’70s-style masked alien. I wanted to paint in broad emotional strokes that everyone would feel instinctively, rather than getting specific with facial expressions.”
“Not My Girl” appears on the band’s latest EP, Melon Collie and the Infinite Radness: Part 1, which dropped on April 8 via Dine Alone Records in North America.
In support of their latest EP, Tokyo Police Club will be heading on tour this fall for a string of dates with Born Ruffians and the Elwins, followed by an intimate theatre tour in November. Tickets for all Canadian tour dates are now available for purchase at www.tokyopoliceclub.com. All confirmed tour dates are below.
Melon Collie and the Infinite Radness: Part 1 is the 1st instalment of two EP’s to be released in 2016 by the critically lauded four-piece. It marks the band’s first release since their enterprising and vaulting 2014 LP Forcefield, as well as the 10-year anniversary of their debut EP A Lesson In Crime. The new music sees Tokyo Police Club looking back to the energy and spirit of that formative era while keeping an eye on the future. Melon Collie and the Infinite Radness: Part 1 is now available to purchase via iTunes and physically on CD and cassette format via the Dine Alone Webstore.
Tokyo Police Club will perform and throw out the first pitch on July 29, as part of the Toronto Blue Jays’ Friday Fan Festivals presented by BACARDI. The Friday Fan Festivals are a licensed event open to all Blue Jays fans with tickets to the game that evening. Starting at 4:30 p.m. and concluding at game time, ticket holders will be able to enjoy the Friday Fan Festivals with access to the 100 Level concourse.
