‘Pornography’ by The Cure was released on May the 4th 1982, it was the bands fourth studio album.
– Here’s what Robert Smith had to say about the album’s beginning, “I had two choices at the time, which were either completely giving in [committing suicide] or making a record of it and getting it out of me”
– about the album’s recording sessions Smith has said “there was a lot of drugs involved”.
– after the release of the album Simon Gallup left the group.
– The album debuted and peaked at No. 8 in the UK Albums Chart, staying in the chart for nine weeks.
– The NME described Pornography as “arguably the album that invented goth”
