The Pixies ‘Doolittle’ was released on this day in 1989

doolittle‘Doolittle’ was the Pixies second studio album and was released on April 18th 1989 (it was released in the United Kingdom on April 17)

– the album was produced by Gil Norton (Echo & the Bunnymen, Foo Fighters)

– After writing “Smells Like Teen Spirit”, both Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic of Nirvana thought: “this really sounds like the Pixies. People are really going to nail us for this.”

– the three singles from ‘Doolittle’ were “Here Comes Your Man,”Monkey Gone to Heaven” and “Debaser”

– On “La La Love You” David Lovering was lead vocal, and Kim Deal, Black Francis, and Joey Santiago were backup vocals

– The ‘Doolittle’ album is considered groundbreaking for alternative music. It influenced many other 90s alternative bands such as Nirvana.
