Musician Scott Weiland, found dead at the age of 48

Scott Weiland‘s body was discovered on his tour bus around 9pm on Dec 3 outside a motel, near the venue where the band was due to play in Bloomington, Minnesota; Weiland was there to play with his band The Wildabouts.

Scott Weiland was best known as the former lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots (STP) and the “super-group” Velvet Revolver.

I remember really liking the song “Plush” from Stone Temple Pilots album ‘Core’ (I remember thinking it was a new Pearl Jam track when I first heard it on the radio) but to tell you the truth I never really listened to much of his solo work or the Velvet Revolver stuff, instead like most of us I watched his demise played out online like a soap opera….48 is way to fucking young.

A statement on his Instagram account reads:

Scott Weiland, best known as the lead singer for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, passed away in his sleep while on a tour stop in Bloomington, Minnesota, with his band The Wildabouts. At this time we ask that the privacy of Scott’s family be respected.
