6 Acts You’ll Need To See This Weekend @ The WayHome Music Festival

way11
With over 70 different artists playing at 4 unique stages, this weekends inaugural WayHome Music & Arts Festival is gearing up to be the best time you’ll have this summer.

Sonic More Music will be on the festival grounds all weekend soaking up everything it can throw at us, but the main reason we are going is the music, so we have picked 6 acts out of the almost 70 that we feel you should not miss….here they are:

Weaves

Hot off their triumphant Glastonbury performance Toronto’s Weaves hit’s the hwy north and are making their way to WayHome for what we are predicting to be one of the most talked about sets of the weekend. Weaves are playing Sunday from 2:30 to 3:15 on the WayBold Stage.

Viet Cong

Calgary, Alberta’s Viet Cong rose from the ashes of Women to become the one-two punch music needed. Viet Cong are playing Friday night on the WayAway Stage from 7:30 to 8:30pm.

Future Islands

Like most of you my first taste of Future Islands was on March 3, 2014, when they performed “Seasons (Waiting on You)” on The Late Show with David Letterman; Samuel Herring hypnotized us with his dancing and growling….they had won us over. Future Islands are playing a late set Friday night on the WayBright stage, they go on from 1am till 2am (gonna need a nap for this one).

St. Vincent

Annie Clark aka St. Vincent is huge, not only in regards to her popularity but also her talent and staying power, so don’t miss her Sunday on the WayHome Mainstage from 5PM till 6:15PM.

Kendrick Lamar

At the age of 16 Kendrick Lamar released his first full-length project, a mixtape titled Youngest Head Nigga in Charge (Hub City Threat: Minor of the Year), under the alias K-Dot…this was just the beginning, since then he has gone on to release over 30 different releases and has toured the world. Lamar lands at the WayHome festival Saturday night where he’s on the WayHome Stage from 9:45 till 11 PM.

Fucked Up

This one’s a given for me, I’ve been following the band now for a few years and have developed some kind of acquaintance with the members, if you have never had the chance to see them live I suggest that you leave Neil’s set early and head over to the WayAway stage at 11:30 to witness some magic in action….Hint, try and get up close for a big bear hug.
