On This Day in 1979, The Clash released ‘London Calling’

‘London Calling’ was The Clash’s third studio album; it was released on December the 14, 1979 in the UK (then in Jan, 1980 in North America). The broader range of styles used on the album, including punk, reggae, rockabilly, R&B and ska were picked up more than likely when The Clash toured America in 1979. The album cover features Clash bassist Paul Simonon smashing his bass during a show at The Palladium in New York City on 21 September 1979 during the Clash Take the Fifth US tour, it was photographed Pennie Smith.

London Calling is now considered by many critics to be one of the greatest rock albums of all time, we agree.
