Metallica’s “The Black Album” was released on this day in 1991

Over 30 years since it was first released Metallica‘s eponymously titled fifth studio album ‘Metallica’ (also known as The Black Album) has went on to sell in excess of 30 million copies, making it the best selling album in the Soundscan era; and also the best selling Heavy Metal album of all time. I remember when it was first released I got a copy of it on Cassette and after I popped it into my Sony Walkman (the yellow sports one) and turned it up my ears were never the same. The album included the singles “Enter Sandman”, “The Unforgiven”, “Nothing Else Matters”, “Wherever I May Roam” and “Sad but True”.
