Depeche Mode’s album ‘101’ released on this day in 1989

Depeche Mode’s Live Album ‘101’ was recorded at Pasadena’s Rose Bowl on June the 18th 1988 during Depeche Mode’s last show on their “Music for the Masses” tour. The album is the soundtrack to film maker D.A. Pennebaker’s documentary of the same name which follows a group of fans who have won tickets to the concert as they travel to the show by bus across America. The album was released on March the 13th 1989 and the movie was then released on April the 27th 1989. On a personal note I saw DM during their “Music for the Masses” Tour in Toronto Canada so the album and film always had a special place in my collection, it was the band at the height of their career.
