Live Aid – It was 31 Years Ago Today [Video]

Live Aid Concert

It was Saturday July the 13th 1985 when an event that was being billed as the “global jukebox” took place, that event was Live Aid, it was being held to raise funds for Ethiopian famine relief. For me the dual concerts were a chance to hear music and see bands I’d only read about up until then. The highlights of the day for me were U2 (the performance that shot them to super stardom) , Queen (Freddie Mercury’s finest performance?), The Style Council, Howard Jones, Rick Springfield,  Bryan Adams (singing “Summer of 69”), Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, The Cars, Duran Duran, Hall & Oates and The Boomtown Rats singing “I Don’t Like Mondays”…to the kids of my generation these shows completed our transformation into lifelong music fans.
